Designed by Alex Hoekstra the TWISTER is state of the art 2009. Spread tow reinforcements and a very stiff wing as standard with flying weights from 240g make the TWISTER an awesome competition machine.

Alex suggests that the TWISTER wing section carries weight well and he does not fly in still air under 280g [10oz.]. Best duration in still air is achieved at 280g and a good amount of flap.

The wing section on the TWISTER is not super thin like some and Alex prefers the use of ballast to achieve good penetration in windy conditions:

“In the windy conditions we have here in Europe its very important that your plane can carry enough ballast around. This is a much more effective way to fly fast then just a thin wing.”

Another advantage is that a heavier plane is a lot better to control in wind and turbulence. The disadvantage of thin wings/light weight is that they lose energy/momentum every time the air changes, they just don't keep there speed well.

Thicker, more cambered wings also go up in thermals a lot faster.

Added to this in his tests against the other top European competition DLG the Twister consistently launched around 10% higher.

Owner’s comments:

“The kit is absolutely first class. Fit and finish is amazing.”

“Flew ballasted to just over 10 oz in the morning. The plane responds very well to the ballast and the dead air was not affected much. Even with no wind the handling is exceptional and makes the catch and throw very easy.”
